ALERT- DAYTIME RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES- There is currently a
Multi-County investigation of multiple DAYTIME Burglaries. The
ongoing investigation involves several police departments covering many
municipalities including Mount Joy and West Donegal townships.
Numerous Burglaries have occurred within local housing developments as well as Rural area homes during the daytime periods when the residents were at away at work. The actors have forced entry into the homes then searched throughout the homes for small in size valuables.
ALL RESIDENTS are encouraged to be vigilant and aware of unusual persons and activity occurring at neighbors homes normally unoccupied during daytime work hours as well as early evening hours. If any such activity occurs, BE A GOOD WITNESS and stay SAFE. Residents should note description of persons or vehicle description and registration on the vehicles as well as the location or direction of travel of the suspect vehicle and call police immediately.
DO NOT APPROACH or CONFRONT any suspicious persons! DO NOT ENTER any open or forced open location !! CALL POLICE immediately !
Northwest Regional Police offers a public service of Vacation house checks. The service can be requested by contacting the police department at 717-367-8481.
RESIDENTS should also be aware, both Mount Joy Township and West Donegal Township require any persons soliciting door to door MUST HAVE A PERMIT! ALL SOLICITORS MUST purchase a permit at the Police department, and EACH PERSON will receive a PHOTO IDENTIFICATION PERMIT which MUST be visible when soliciting within each township. If you encounter anyone who does not have a permit, contact the police department.
